We’re pleased to announce that a custom batch of square silicon wafer substrates has just shipped out to a customer in Taiwan, dispatched via DHL air freight and expected to arrive within 2-3 business days.
These particular square silicon wafers measure 170 mm in length and 130 mm in width, with a thickness of 2000 µm — all held to tight tolerances of ±0.2 mm on the dimensions and ±25 µm on thickness. The edges are precision laser-cut for a clean, burr-free boundary, and both faces are mirror-polished to an ultra-smooth finish.
We also applied an R1 mm edge chamfer and R8 mm corner radius to minimize chipping and stress concentration during downstream handling. For this order, the customer did not restrict crystal orientation, resistivity, or doping type, so the wafers were supplied open on those parameters.
Square silicon wafers are increasingly popular among research labs and prototype teams because their rectangular form factor makes better use of limited substrate area compared with round wafers — especially for microfluidics, sensor arrays, and small-batch device fabrication. Our in-house cutting and polishing capability means we can produce square silicon wafer geometries to nearly any dimension, not just standard sizes.
The entire shipment was packed in secure, shock-resistant packaging, fully insured, and sent with end-to-end tracking so the customer can monitor it from our door to theirs.
